Five Element Acupuncture is a powerful method for healing body, mind and spirit through subtle energetic rebalancing. This form of acupuncture is documented in Chinese medical classics dating from 200BC. In Five Element Acupuncture, diagnosis and treatment is based upon an understanding that each one of us has a core energetic imbalance predominantly relating to one of the five elements within us (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water). This imbalance influences our physical, mental and spiritual well-being, often manifesting in the form of sickness, ill-health and emotional or spiritual blockages. Energetic rebalancing at this deepest level can resolve a wide range of health issues as well as offering a greater sense of well-being.
"When one applies medical treatment, one must keep in mind first of all, the patient's spirit." (quote from the Nei Jing, c.200BC)
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) refers to the form of acupuncture that is generally practised in China today, systematised by the government in the 1940's during the Cultural Revolution and used in clinics and hospitals throughout China to treat a wide range of medical conditions.
Auricular Acupuncture is based on the concept that the ear is a microsystem representing the whole body, and is a relatively modern form of acupuncture treatment developed in Europe in the 20th century. It includes the NADA protocol which is now used and acknowledged widely in the treatment of all kinds of addictions, ranging from smoking and drug-use to eating and psychological disorders.
